It’s Friday night around 12 or so. I’m not in a club. I’m not at a house party. I’m not anywhere but home. Just making my next moves. I’m actually doing something constructive with myself. After the crunch time of the week I find myself on most nights just staying home and inventing. What do I mean by that? Well, I find myself immersed in creation. I’m writing scripts, learning something new, video editing, drawing, reading and yes writing. I feel as though my time can be better spent inventing new ideas and planning to make my dreams come true. I add to an unfinished script. I work on pre-production for my next movie. I get lost on YouTube or Lynda.com tutorials on filmmaking. It just feels as if the sky’s the limit and that I find completeness when I stay home and invent. While many of my peers are out having a good time, I find myself having a better time whenever I finish something that I’ve been working on. It’s even more satisfactory when I finish a project and am ready to share it with the world! Don’t get me wrong I too partake in fun moments. But the majority of my time is spent being creative. I feel like Van Gogh, Emily Dickinson, Luis Valdez, Quentin Tarantino and all the greats who are always chasing their dreams to fruition. Because it is with dedication, hard work and sacrifice that leads to a great sense of accomplishment. So I urge everyone to put down their beer or video game controller and immerse yourself in something fulfilling for once. Go out there and create just like I do! Because once you’ve finished something big, will you only begin to realize your self worth.
