The short answer to that question is no. Though streaming provides a new landscape in which we consume media with its endless content. From just about anything under the sun. You really have no say in ownership or viewing preferences. And at the end of the day, you have no say in what you own or get to keep for what you are paying for. There’s also the issue of content being constantly removed from their servers and replaced by new content all the time. And on top of that streaming services don’t upload all of their content from the past. You might want to watch a show from back in the day only to realize they have either removed it or not even uploaded it to their catalog. And if the internet goes out or is unavailable, you’re screwed. That’s why you’ll always see me combing through DVDs and Blu-Rays at the store to add to my collection. If I buy it, I own it, I can view it whenever I want. It’s mine forever. As opposed to hoping it will be on a streaming service one day. If ever. Streaming services have benefits don’t get me wrong but at the end of the day, you do not physically own it. The same can be said for music streaming services as well. If you do not own anything anymore than what is it truly worth? It’s here today and gone tomorrow.
