I’m so impressed by the rapper Logic! I discovered him one day while at an event for UNT. It all started with the song Fade Away and from then on it was magic! I also started listening to The Incredible Album and began exploring all of his work. It’s like every song and album are different. It’s like he’s not afraid to cross boundaries musically and explore different avenues. I really enjoyed the Young Sinatra III and Everybody albums. He is also not ashamed or afraid to talk about his past. He has an interesting back story. He came from a poor neighborhood in Maryland, his father was addicted and sold drugs, and growing up Logic experienced bad things as a child. He suffered from abuse, being kidnapped and problems with being bi-racial while growing up. But that didn’t stop him from becoming the wonderful person he is today! In his albums he covers an array of topics such as poverty, race, death, the future, political issues, his experiences growing up, social media, trending topics and still has time to let loose and have fun. His rapping style ranges from fast to slow, his word play, and beats suit him well. I also enjoy his music videos especially since they cover so many topics. My favorite one is One Day it is about two different boys (one white and one Hispanic) who go through two separate paths. The first boy is an immigrant who goes through the immigration system and the other is a white boy who is raised in a white supremist family. One uses his powers for good while the other for evil. That’s all I’ll say. Another video he is bleeding slowly as he talks about how social media affects us as a society. He is doing this to show the pain and suffering people go through when trying to look appealing on social media. Another music video is of him driving with cash loads of money in his car. I believe he is trying to say that money is pointless. While at the same time he lets loose in other videos such as Black Spiderman and Everybody Dies. His whole collection of work proceeds him. Did I mention he wrote an entire novel? Logic is a great rapper dare I say better than Eminem? Logic continues to amaze me, while still remaining humble. That’s the part that surprises me the most. Given his circumstances he could have been mad at the world or ignored the meek. But instead, he remains true to himself. Thank you, Logic, for being you and bringing nothing but the best when it comes to your work and music. And hey, I can’t wait to see you on October 18th!
